Dates to Remember:
Second Grade Egg Drop - Our second graders were challenged to create a contraption that would safely hold a raw egg as it was dropped from top of the playground slide. Using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) strategies students successfully designed containers that kept 16 out of 21 eggs from breaking. Great Job!! pictures
Poetry Cafe' - The 3rd and 4th graders collaborated on a very successful poetry project called the Poetry Café. Students spent several weeks learning about and writing many different kinds of poems. Then, they collected the poems together in a beautiful book entitled, My Poetry Anthology. Students also drew the illustrations for each poem. Our poetry unit culminated in a "formal" poetry evening called the "Poetry Café". Students presented selected poems to an appreciative audience of parents and friends. Wonderful refreshments were served by parent volunteers and a fantastic time was had by all. pictures
Commerce Unit - 3rd/4th Grade - Fourth graders have been learning about how our economy actually works by becoming businessmen and business women. Each student selected a product they wished to "sell" to classmates. They designed computerized advertising posters on Google Drive to entice classmates to purchase their wares. Students were issued "checks" and had to keep track of their deposits and withdrawls. At the end of the day, "C" was the most success businessman, with "J" coming in second and "J" third. Students were very disappointed to learn that they had to pay taxes to the government, but they grudgingly did their taxpaying duty. pictures
Do You Like Green Eggs and Ham? - Kindergarten celebrated "Green Eggs and Ham" Day. We read, cooked and ate green eggs! Then we wrote, made a class book and completed a bar graph about green eggs. For the first time ever... everyone in Kindergarten liked green eggs and ham! pictures
