Exmplary Work Wall - See how we recognize fantastic student work here at Garmisch EMS.

Dates to Remember:

Haunted Art HouseHaunted House Writing Project - The 4th and 5th graders are constructing cardboard "haunted houses" as a joint art/creative writing project. Here are some photos of our houses "under construction". As soon as these mysterious houses are completed, students will write spooky and very interesting stories about their houses. pictures

Fire Safety WeekFire Safety Week - Fire Prevention week culminated with a fire drill and a visit from the local fire department. Students in kindergarten to second grade were given the chance to be junior firefighters, working alongside real firemen spraying the fire hose and taking the fire truck out on the road for a ride. The big lesson the students learned about fire safety last week is that it is important to always have at least two ways out of a building, if there were a fire. pictures

Chris McBrien AssemblyChris McBrien Visits - Bully Prevention - Chris McBrien visited our school to help us kick off ‘Anti-bully month’. His message matched our efforts to focus on the positive, yet give students the tools to address people who are unkind. Without our PTA’s support, we would not have great presentations like this. Thank you GEMS PTA! pictures

Frisbee GolfMiddle School Frisbee Golf Unit -Students in grade 6 - 8 have spent the past 2 weeks creating a Frisbee golf course.  The students were placed in teams of 3 to 4 students.  They learned how to estimate distance in feet and meters.  After a quick review of angles, the students created their own "hole" for Frisbee golf.   The students have had to design their holes using their math skills.  They even were given a taste of engineering as they had to create a target for the Frisbee golf hole.  The course, along with a scorecard, should be ready to go by the week of 6 - 10 October. picturesFrisbee Golf

Constitution DayConstitution Day - Our students learned about rules, our flag, the pledge of allegiance, the branches of governement, how to write with a quill, and many other topics related to the beginnings of our nation for Constitution Day. pictures
